I'm a sad twat apparently

It seems that not everybody approves of pan-species listing...

  1. Have had a look at that blog, Steve, and I would say it was written by a sadder twat than any pan-species lister. What's wrong with combining birding, botany and every other aspect of the natural world into one list? Maybe it makes him feel inadequate and inferior?

  2. Localised Pan-species listing also goes under an alternative title of BioBlitzing, producing as complete inventory of all life forms in a given area, and is a valuable enterprise. How can we conserve wildlife without knowing what species are present and without people who train themselves in the necessary identification skills (which are no longer taught in universities)? I would take my hat off to you, if I wore one ...

  3. Dean: unfortunately, I do a bit.

Graham: I hope that his post was one more tongue-in-cheek rather than meant.

Phil: Thanks for the understanding, but as a regular visitor to your blog I know that you like identification and detail!

  4. No you're not Steve, its a good way of keeping interest up on any day of the year. Just as long as you dont spend more time gazing down a microscope than you do looking about outside ;)

  5. I have posted a response to this on my blog. It's a bit long to put in a comments box!
