Top 50

I've made no secret about liking lists, and that doesn't just apply to birds, moths and plants. Because I'm a sad person with more time on his hands than is healthy, I put together my top 50 albums (after seeing several Top 100 album lists online) - I just had to have a go. If I did this tomorrow a few of them might change positions. I will apologise to Dean Stables in advance - there's nowt here to tickle his musical palate I'm afraid. Don't be shy, there's more to life than things that fly, come up with a few of your own choices and share!

Nice Steve,

not enough of this sort of stuff

I'd have a great number of yours and also/instead have some Clash (London Calling), Stone Roses, The Fall, Half Man Half Biscuit, Pixies, Mountain Goats, Descendents, Fugazi, Weld by Neil Young, The Smiths, The Jam, Man or Astroman, Stooges, Kraftwerk, more Beatles, Johnny Cash, Jesus and Mary Chain, Velvets, New Order, Manics, Sonic Youth, Sex Pistols, Husker Du etc

Maybe a top 100 would be easier....lol

No stones? Me neither.

Hi Tim, glad you approve. Of course, as soon as you commit this sort of stuff to paper (or computer) you realise that you've missed stuff that should be on there... as for the Stones, apart from the odd track from their first ten years they've never really done it for me.
This now feels like the BBC4 of blogs.

As a deaf person, BBC4 serves me with a rich smorgasbord of intellectual programmes then has a music theme for a week now and then which makes me switch right off.

Bit of an insulting comment in a way but good to know you are on a par with BBC4 isn't it?

Apologies for that Andrew, it must be frustrating when this sort of thing happens. But please don't switch off your patronage to this blog, you are one of my few regulars. I'd hate to lose you...
Not to worry at all, I always return to BBC4 when the music stops.

Thank you Nick Hornby! Lots of good stuff there. I've always had a top-ten favourite albums in my head but never committed it to paper (or keyboard). Dog Man Star is definitely on that list, a beautifully compiled album with "The Wild Ones" always capable of giving me the musical goose-bumps!

Hope to see you at Dunge in the spring.
