Vestal

My third back garden Vestal appeared in the MV last night (following singles in August 2003 and August 2012). With plenty of Four-spotted Footmen, Convolvulus Hawk-moths and Crimson Speckleds being seen, I will be switching the trap on this evening with expectations slightly raised...

Excellent catch, would love to see a Vestal. I'm home briefly next weekend for the AES fair- may just have to put the trap out too...

I'll swap one of my Vestals for your Jersey Mocha! I might well be at the AES fair as well Bill. Will tweet if there and hope to meet up.
I too had a Vestal last night with several Rush Veneers. It was my second garden Vestal. Would love to have one of your Convolvulus, Four-spotteds or Crimsons though.

Am also considering the AES fair but it is a trek from Devon to Kempton. If it was London then it would be a lot easier.

If you do decide to go Andrew, please let me know.
I shall now be going thanks to the kind offer of a lift from a fellow Devon naturalist. It would be good to meet you there.

Need to check my bank account to see how much the fair is going to hurt me!

Well we may as well have an official Bloggers Jolly at the AES. Even though I don't blog anymore...see's you all in there at some point?

How will we recognise each other? Carnations in buttonholes? A copy of Atropos under our arm?
I have asked Gav to pass on my number if he can. Failing that, stand at the bar (I presume there is one) at 1pm hoping for the best?

I've got your number Andrew and will text when on site. Cheers!
Didn't get a text so I poresume you did not make it?

I was surprised at the contents of the fair and shall cover it in my blog within the next couple of years or so. We went to Gilbert White's house afterwards for cake and coffee and saw the man himself and he was extremely good at keeping still that I thought he might pass for a dummy.

I was there Andrew, and did text and phone but the number Gavin gave me came up as unrecognised. Sorry.
